Rose Carter Miller was born April 24, 1924, in Georgia — and she carried a quiet, unstoppable power all the way to Newark, NJ, where she became an elementary educator, a homeowner, and a cornerstone of her community. At a time when a woman's "place" was defined by others, Grandma Rose defined it for herself.
